Yakima, WA : Two seriously hurt in single-vehicle crash near Interstate 90 Ellensburg on Saturday October 22 2016

Two Western Washington residents were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Saturday morning after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 90, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The crash happened about 5:45 a.m. 3 miles west of Ellensburg.

Kaylee M. Nelson-Jerry, 18, of Auburn was driving east in a Honda Passport when she fell asleep, according to a patrol news release.

The vehicle left the road to the left and traveled down the inside shoulder for about 150 feet before rolling several times and landing on its roof, troopers said.
Nelson-Jerry and her passenger -- Ferdinand F. Castilla, 42, of Seattle -- were both taken to Harborview. Both were listed in serious condition, Saturday afternoon, a nursing supervisor said.

Nelson-Jerry was expected to receive a ticket for second-degree negligent driving, according to the news release.

Both occupants were wearing seat belts, and intoxicants were not suspected of contributing to the crash, the release said.
