Monroe, LA : Semi driver dies in I-20 wreck at Ruston on Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016

A wreck on I-20 east of the Rough Edge Road overpass claimed the life of a Shreveport man Wednesday morning.

The Ruston Police Department received a call reporting the crash shortly after 10:30 a.m. RPD officers and medics from the Ruston Fire Department responded to the scene where a 2014 Freightliner with a box trailer and a 1998 International dump truck both suffered severe damage.

Dump truck driver Justin Pool, 41, Calhoun, was transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Rodney Charles, 40, Shreveport, the driver of the Freightliner, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner's Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ruston Police Department.
