San Antonio, TX : 3 transported after wreck on North Navarro Street near the East Airline Road intersection on Tuesday, 21st May 2019

Two women and a toddler were transported to Citizens Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon after a two-vehicle wreck on North Navarro Street near the East Airline Road intersection.

Dalhia Villarreal, 47, of Victoria, was transported for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, said Senior Police Officer Bryan Knief.

The two passengers in her vehicle, a woman in her 20s and toddler, were also transported with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Their identities were not available Tuesday.

Villarreal was northbound in the inside lane of North Navarro Street in a black Dodge Dart when she stopped at a red light, Knief said. While waiting for the traffic light to change, the car was hit from behind by a silver Ford F-150 that failed to control speed while also northbound on Navarro Street.

“He said that he looked down for a second and looked back up and realized everybody was stopped,” Knief said. “ (He said he) tried to swerve to get out of her way to keep from hitting her, but the left front of his truck caught the back passenger side of her car.”

The Victoria Police Department and Victoria Fire Department responded to the crash about 3 p.m.

The driver of the Ford truck, Kurt Keul, 66, of Mineral, was not injured and received a citation for failure to control speed, Knief said.
