STILLWATER, OK : 19-year-old OSU student dies following hit-and-run on Thursday, 22nd February 2024

A 19-year-old student at Oklahoma State University has died after a hit-and-run incident Thursday morning.

The OSU and Stillwater Police Departments were called to the scene for an injury accident near Monroe Street and Cantwell Avenue just before 10 a.m. Thursday.

Stillwater Police say 19-year-old Gabrielle Claudia Long was crossing at the crosswalk when she was hit.

A short time later, OSU PD asked for information regarding a white, four-door 3/4 ton pickup, possibly a newer model Chevrolet last seen going northbound on Washington Avenue with driver’s side front bumper damage.

Just before noon, investigators identified a person of interest, and by 12:35 p.m., 21-year-old Tyler Peters was in custody.
