OLD BRIDGE, NJ : 2 dead in 3-vehicle crash on Route 9 in New Jersey on Monday, 25th February 2019

A three-vehicle crash on a major New Jersey highway has left two people dead.

The crash on Route 9 in Old Bridge occurred around 6 a.m. Monday.

Middlesex County prosecutors say a man and woman were sitting in the back seat of a ride-sharing car that was rear-ended by another vehicle and then pushed into a third car in the highway's northbound left lane.

The pair was pronounced dead at the scene, but their names and further details about them were not immediately available.

The driver of the ride-sharing car and a person in the vehicle that rear-ended them were injured in the crash, but further details were not disclosed.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
