WEST POINT, IA : West Point man dies in accident on Wednesday 9th November 2016

A two-vehicle accident Wednesday around 6:15 a.m. took the life of one person and injured two others.

According to a press release from the Iowa State Patrol, the driver of the first vehicle, Jeffrey Herman Boeding, 59, West Point, died as a result of the accident. Aaron Bruce Franklin, 25, Keosauqua, the driver of the second vehicle, was seriously injured, as was the passenger in his vehicle, Brenna Sue Johnsenger, 21 of Burlington. Both injured parties were taken to Fort Madison Community Hospital for treatment.

According to Lee County Sheriff Jim Sholl, the initial investigation revealed that the driver of the first vehicle allowed his car to drift into the lane of the second vehicle, striking it head-on.

The accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and further information is expected.
