BEDFORD, MA : 1 dead in head-on collision with large cement truck on Thursday, 8th August 2019

One person is dead following a head-on collision with a cement truck on North Road Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the Bedford Police Department.

A 71-year-old Methuen man was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries and later pronounced dead. Authorities are not releasing his name pending notification of his next of kin, the release stated.

Two children in the car at the time of the crash were taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

At about 1:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a crash near 79 North Road. A 2010 Honda CRV driven by the 71-year-old Methuen man was traveling southbound when it crossed over a double yellow line and collided head-on with a cement truck traveling northbound, according to the press release.

The driver of the cement truck declined medical treatment at the scene.
