Lockport, LA : 18 Year Old Passenger Killed in Lafourche Parish Crash on Saturday night, December 27, 2014

An 18-year-old Galliano man was killed Saturday night (Dec. 27) when the vehicle in which he was riding struck a tree after veering off Louisiana 1 south of Lockport in Lafourche Parish, State Police said.

Evan Danos died at Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital of injuries he suffered in the wreck, police said.

Danos was riding in the front seat of a 2008 Lincoln MKZ driven by Colby Callias, 19, around 8 p.m. As they traveled south on Louisiana 1 south of the Valentine Bridge, Danos apparently lost control of the Lincoln on a leftward curve in the road.

The car skidded off the road and struck a tree on the passenger side. Callais, of Larose, suffered "moderate injuries" and was treated at Ochsner St. Anne.

Both were wearing seat belts. Blood tests for Callais are pending, but police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the wreck.

The crash still is under investigation.
