GOODFIELD, IL : Area woman dies in crash near Goodfield on Monday, January 9th 2017

A 22-year-old woman from Lowpint was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning near Goodfield.

Sarah M. Blanchard was pronounced dead at 2:25 a.m. at the scene of the crash on Illinois 117 near the intersection of Woodford County Road 550 North, about 4 miles north of Goodfield, said Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman.

She was driving north on Illinois 117 when she apparently lost control, slid off the pavement and struck a tree, Ruestman said in a news release.

An autopsy indicated she died from traumatic brain injuries, Ruestman said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Woodford County Sheriff’s Department and the Woodford County coroner’s office.
