Four people died in a wreck in Laurens County after a head-on collision involving three vehicles at 11:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 221 near New Prospect Church Road.
Three of those killed were in a 2003 Toyota Tacoma truck, none of whom were wearing a seat belt, said Cpl. Bill Rhyne with the state Highway Patrol. One person killed was driving a 2012 Nissan Altima and was wearing a seat belt.
Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols said those killed in the Tacoma were: Hunter Carter, 18, of 133 Echo Road in Union; Kirslyn Richardson, 16, of 115 Step Road in Union; and Charner Inabinet, 15, of 3104 Cross Key Highway in Union.
Nichols said the driver of the Altima was Bruce Blair, 54, of 167 Cedar Grove Road in Laurens.
A 31-year-old Laurens man was driving the 2010 Dodge Charger that was also involved in the wreck, Rhyne said. He was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Self Regional Medical Center.
The Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on Highway 221 when it crossed the centerline and struck the Nissan Altima head-on before hitting the Dodge Charger, Rhyne said.
Nichols said emergency responders had to use Jaws of Life to access the victims in the truck.
