Seminole County, FL : 24-year-old man died in a crash near Lake Mary on Friday, July 29, 2016

A 24-year-old Lake Mary man died this morning when he lost control of his car and hit a tree, troopers said.

Erik Skiko was heading west on Greenwood Boulevard near Heather Down Lane, about a mile from Interstate 4 at Lake Mary Boulevard, when he lost control of his 2004 Lexus sedan, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The car went over a curb, hit a wall and then a tree, troopers said.

Skiko died at the scene.

His passenger, 22-year-old Michael Rosselot, of Lake Mary was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to FHP.

Troopers said Skiko wasn't wearing a seat belt. Rosselot was belted.
