Center Ossipee,NH : Route 16 re-opened in Center Ossipee after fatal crash on January, Tuesday 30th 2018
Center Ossipee, New Hampshire
A main road is back open Tuesday night after a driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash.
A portion of busy Route 16 was shut down during the evening commute.
Police said the driver of a white truck crossed the center line while traveling south and hit a larger truck head-on.
“Unfortunately, the driver of the truck that crossed over was killed on impact,” said Sgt. Robert King, of the Ossipee Police Department.
Several witnesses who saw the trucks collide stayed on the scene and assisted police in their investigation.
“The truck that was heading north was loaded with wood chips,” King said. “After the impact, it overturned onto its right side, spilling its load of wood chips into the road.”
The crash happened just after 1 p.m. The tractor-trailer carrying wood chips wasn't turned back on its wheels until almost 5 p.m.
State Department of Transportation trucks were brought in to help with the cleanup of the spilled wood chips.
