Dover, DE : 19-year-old Justin Lai struck, killed in crash on Kenton road in Dover on Thursday, January 1, 2015

Dover Police say a skateboarder was struck and killed while he was riding in the road at night.

Officers say 19-year-old Justin Lai was riding his skateboard about 4:15 a.m. Thursday on Kenton Road. Authorities say a car traveling in the same direction hit Lai, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Police say the car then struck a tree.

Officers say Lai, who was dressed black clothing, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
