A 14-year-old girl has died in a single rollover crash Thursday morning after an SUV flipped over on Black Cat Road.
The crash occurred near Black Cat Road and Ridgeback Lane at about 6:30 a.m, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle was heading north before the crash when at some point the 24-year-old driver lost control of a Ford Explorer. Witnesses told KBOI the driver attempted to steer the vehicle back onto the road before it rolled.
A 14-year-old girl identified as Autumn Barnes of Kuna was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle when she was ejected. A 46-year-old man was taken to hospital.
The teen was not wearing a seat belt, deputies told KBOI.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office says Barnes died of blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office says the woman had to be extricated from the wreckage. Both are in stable condition.
