The Charleston County Coroner’s Office released the identity of the person killed on Isle of Palms Connector and Riviera Drive, Sunday afternoon.
According to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Sara Senn, Zachary Grooms, 23, of Hanahan, died of blunt trauma.
Mount Pleasant Police Department and the Isle of Palms Police Department responded to a serious collision on December 11.
We’re told Grooms was riding toward Isle of Palms on the IOP Connector when a vehicle turned left from Riviera Drive. Police say the car drove into the Grooms’ path, and the motorcycle hit the car near the driver’s door. Grooms died at the scene. The vehicle’s driver was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.
No word on a charges expected to be filed.
