Fairmount, GA : No injuries in a wreck involving school bus, ambulance near Fairmount Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017
According to the Georgia State Patrol, no injuries were reported in this morning’s wreck involving a Gordon County school bus and a Gordon EMS ambulance.
According to a preliminary report, around 6:45 a.m. this morning, a Gordon County school bus was traveling east on Highway 53 around Gillespie Road near Fairmount. A Gordon EMS ambulance, also traveling east on Highway 53, was responding to a call and had emergency lights and sirens on. The ambulance attempted to pass the school bus in the west bound lane when the bus turned left to pick up students, resulting in the ambulance striking the bus.
The bus had 19 students on board as well as the driver; the ambulance had two employees on board. No injuries were reported from passengers on the bus or in the ambulance. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
The investigation is continuing this hour, but no charges are expected to be filed.
