SUTTON, MA : One person was killed in a head-on collision on Central Turnpike on Thursday, January, 25th 2018

One person was killed in a head-on collision on Central Turnpike Thursday afternoon.

Police said speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which occurred just before 4 p.m., according to the Millbury-Sutton Chronicle. A van owned by Cogswell Sprinkler Co. collided with a truck owned by Sky Hook Tree Removal of Grafton. The truck was towing a wood chipper.

Police Chief Dennis Towle said the van was headed west on Central Turnpike when it tried to make a left turn onto Mendon Road. It collided head-on with the truck which was headed east. The driver of the van was killed in the accident. Two people in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

Chief Towle said the name of the person who was killed is not being released pending notification of family members.

The accident is under investigation by the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council and Sutton police.
