Decatur, TX : Man killed, another injured in one-vehicle crash near Alvord Thursday evening, September 22, 2016

One man was killed and another injured in an one-vehicle crash on County Road 2690 northeast of Alvord Thursday evening.

The driver of the Chevrolet truck, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, died at the scene. The passenger, Joshua Nechtman, 30, of Alvord, was flown by Air Evac to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

The truck was traveling westbound on CR 2690 around 6 p.m. when it veered off the left side of the road, striking a tree head on just a few hundred yards west of County Road 2685.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Lantz Elliott said there were no skid marks on the road to indicate braking. He also found no signs of mechanical failure.

Wise County medics and Alvord firefighters assisted at the scene.

The accident was the second fatality accident in Wise County Thursday. A man was also killed in a single-vehicle wreck in the 300 block of County Road 4793 southwest of Boyd.
