Henderson, KY : One dead after semi vs. motorcycle crash in the area of Kentucky 416 and U.S. 41-South on Friday, August 5, 2016
A Henderson County resident is dead after a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle in the area of Kentucky 416 and U.S. 41-South.
The identity of the man has not been released pending family notification.
According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred around 8 a.m. Friday when a semi being driven by Luis Vasquez, 42, of Illinois, was traveling south on U.S. 41-South and begin making a left turn onto Kentucky 416-West.
The semi turned in front of a motorcycle, which was northbound on U.S. 41-South, officials said.
The motorcycle operator braked, causing the bike to turn onto its side, authorities said.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike and hit the side of the semi, the sheriff's office said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
U.S. 41-South at Kentucky 416 was shut down for roughly three hours while the crash site was investigated and cleared.
