Ocala, FL : Umatilla teen dies in car crash on County Road 42 in Marion County on Saturday evening, June 18, 2016

A Umatilla teen died Saturday when she lost control of her car on County Road 42 in Marion County.

Yesenia Ventura, 17, was driving east when she turned following a curve in the road, according a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Ventura drove onto the shoulder of the road east of Southeast 294 Court Road and over compensated to get back onto County Road 42, according to FHP Cpl. Daphne Yuncker’s report. She drove her Saturn SC-2 over both lanes and overturned the car several times and crashed into nearly 60 feet of wire fencing.

The car came to rest on its side on the west side of the road. During the crash, Ventura, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially thrown through the passenger-side window and was hanging out of the car.

When the car stopped, it rested on top of her upper torso, which was outside the window, according to the FHP report. The accident occurred at 8:50 p.m. and she was pronounced dead at 8:57 p.m., according to the report.

Results of alcohol tests are still pending.
