Paducah, KY : A Calvert City man was killed on Wednesday, May 31, 2017

A Calvert City man was killed Wednesday afternoon when his vehicle was struck by an oncoming truck near Benton.

According to the Kentucky State Police, Tommy A. Redell, 29, was driving a 2000 Chevy Malibu on Church Grove Road when he attempted to cross U.S. 641. At the same time, a 2000 Dodge Durango, driven by 37-year-old Harold M. Thomas, of Hardin, was approaching the intersection on U.S. 641.

Police said Redell failed to yield the right of way, pulling into Thomas' path.

Redell died at the scene. Thomas was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the wreck and both men were wearing their seatbelts.
