Anniston, AL : Anniston man dies in crash on Airport Road on Saturday, 29th October 2016
An Anniston man was pronounced dead at RMC around 5:15 p.m. Saturday from injuries he sustained in a single-vehicle crash near Oxford earlier that day.
Calhoun County assistant Coroner Jay Bowden said Carlos Humberto Lopez, 26, of Golden Springs died of blunt-force trauma when his vehicle left Airport Road and struck a tree. Lopez was wearing a seat belt. Bowden said authorities on the scene told him the crash site was between Creek Drive and Piedmont Avenue.
According to a report from senior Trooper Chuck Daniel of the Jacksonville post of Alabama State Troopers, Lopez was driving a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 when the crash occurred at 1:15 p.m.
No other details are available from troopers as the agency continues to investigate.
