A 92-year-old motorist was killed Friday in a collision at a rural road crossing near Dos Picos County Park.
Catherine Wallace of Ramona failed to yield while trying to make a left turn at the intersection of Mussey Grade Road and Thomas Paine Drive about 11:30 a.m., sending her 2001 Saturn directly into the path of an oncoming 2014 Toyota Camry, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The resulting broadside collision left Wallace fatally injured. She died at the scene of the crash, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.
The other involved motorist, a 38-year-old Ramona woman, was uninjured.
The crash left the intersection closed into the mid-afternoon, the CHP advised.
