Central Islip, NY : Pedestrian killed, driver arrested on DWI charge after a crash on Long Island on Friday, Nov 13, 2015

Police have arrested a man on a drunken-driving charge after they say he struck and killed a pedestrian on Long Island.

The accident happened at 12:13 a.m. Friday in Central Islip.

Suffolk County police say 37-yar-old James Fitzpatrick was driving a pickup truck when he hit 63-year-old Robert Fornasier. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fitzpatrick, of Central Islip, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned later Friday.

It wasn't clear whether Fitzpatrick had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
