Tuscaloosa,AL : One dead, 14-year-old injured in Hale County crash on September, Saturday 16th 2017

A passenger was killed and the 14-year-old driver was injured in a fiery crash Saturday afternoon in Hale County, according to state troopers.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 5:45 p.m. on Hale County Road 30, about three miles southeast of Sawyerville.

Troopers said a 1998 Ford Taurus left the road, struck a tree and caught fire, killing the passenger. The identity of the passenger is unknown, pending confirmation by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The 14-year-old driver was ejected and airlifted to Children’s of Alabama hospital in Birmingham.


The driver and the passenger weren’t wearing seat belts, troopers said.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash.
