COLLETON COUNTY, SC : Man seriously injured in gas tanker crash off I-95 on Monday, 24th June 2024
Colleton County, South Carolina
A man suffered multiple injuries Monday after his gas tanker crashed while traveling along I-95 in Colleton County.
Officials with Colleton County Fire Rescue (CCFR) said the truck and fuel trailer left the interstate at the McLeod overpass when it drove down the embankment, struck a guard rail, and then crossed McLeod Road and hit a guard rail on the other side.
“The truck then drove up the south embankment,” officials said. “The truck received heavy damage.”
Fire-rescue officials said an off-duty firefighter from Hendersonville, North Carolina was traveling on I-95 at the time and stopped to help the driver before emergency crews arrived.
“Fortunately, the trailer was new and was not carrying a load,” officials said.
