Powellsville, North Carolina
A log truck slammed into a car in Powellsville, North Carolina today, killing the car driver.North Carolina State Police reported that the driver was going south on US-13 when his car was T-boned by an International tractor trailer carrying logs. Logs were strewn across the road, causing the road to be shut down for several hours. The car driver was killed during the crash, and his vehicle was dragged 200 feet down the road.Police stated that charges are pending against the log truck driver. Our truck accident personal injury legal team sends deep condolences to the family of the deceased driver. When a tractor trailer accident happens, more often than not, any car involved is going to absorb most of the impact.Any small mistake by the truck driver can have devastating consequences.A case we handled in 2010 involved a big rig rear ending our client’s car on I-64 in Virginia. Both vehicles burst into flames, but our client could not escape his car and died at the scene.
While our client was driving slowly on the interstate due to a tire problem, we proved in court that the truck driver had violated Virginia CDL safety rules. He had, for example, failed to control his diabetes, which we showed could have led to the accident. This case was settled satisfactorily for $3.5 million.
