DURHAM, NC : 14-year-old hit by car in Durham on Tuesday, September 26th 2017

A teenage boy was struck by an SUV on N.C. Highway 54 on Tuesday.

According to officers with the Durham Police Department, the 14-year-old was hit around 6:30 a.m. on N.C. Highway 54 near Alston Avenue.

Officials say the driver stayed at the scene until the teen was transported to a local hospital with a shoulder injury.

Officials said the teen was not in a crosswalk when the crash occurred.

The crash is under investigation.
