Springport, N.Y : 1 NY man killed, 1 injured when car collides with snowplow on Route 326 in the town of Springport on Wednesday, December 14, 2016
Police say a 22-year-old man has died after the car he was riding in crashed into a public works department snowplow on a Finger Lakes road.
The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Route 326 in the town of Springport, on the east shore of Cayuga Lake 30 miles southwest of Syracuse.
Deputies say a 28-year-old Union Springs man was driving his car when he lost control on a curve and spun into the path of an oncoming Cayuga County snowplow. His passenger, Jeffrey Bennett of Geneva, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car’s driver was taken to a Syracuse hospital for treatment of injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.
Two men in the snowplow weren’t injured.
