Kansas City, MO : Five people injured Saturday morning crash at 31st and Grand on September 20, 2014

A crash seriously injured five people Saturday morning at 31st and Grand. Police said that officers had observed a white Chevrolet SUV traveling at a high rate of speed and running red lights northbound at 40th and Southwest Trafficway. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver began eluding as the vehicle turned east on 31st. The officers discontinued attempts to stop the vehicle and it was last seen eastbound at 31st and Broadway. At Grand, the SUV crossed the centerline and struck a westbound Dodge passenger car head-on, according to police. An occupant of the Dodge sustained critical injuries, while the driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The three occupants of the SUV all sustained serious injuries, but are expected to survive. Authorities said alcohol is suspected and the SUV driver remains in custody at this time.
