MANATEE COUNTY, FL : One person has died and two others have suffered critical injuries in a two-car accident on Saturday, 5th May 2018

One person has died and two others have suffered critical injuries in a two-car accident Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, Cheryl Ann Gallagher, 69, of Sarasota was driving south on Lockwood Ridge Road in the left turn lane, approaching the intersection with Honore Avenue around 9:24 p.m. At the same time, Brian David Jones, 27, of Bradenton was traveling north on Lockwood Ridge Road in the right lane. Gallagher reportedly failed to yield to Jones at the intersection, and the two cars collided.

An unidentified 69-year-old female passenger of Columbia, Maryland, in Gallagher’s car died in the accident.

Gallagher suffered critical injuries and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Jones also suffered critical injuries and was taken to Blake Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation.
