El Paso, TX : Motorcycle officer critically injured in fiery crash at Lee Treviño and Vista del Sol on Thursday, March 10, 2016

An El Paso police officer suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash in east El Paso, according to police.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. at Lee Trevino and Vista del Sol.

Police said the motorcycle officer is a nine-year veteran with the force.

The officer was hit after a car crashed into two other vehicles and then a fire erupted, police said.

Police said three other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses tell CBS4 the motorcycle officer was hit after conducting a traffic stop.

A witness said the officer was trapped under the car until people were able to pull him out.

"I've never seen flames that big. Never seen a car flaming. Got tons of cars around and we're right by a gas station, so I was trying to steer clear of that. I wasn't sure if there was going to be a big explosion or something," Carlos Vela said.

The intersection at Lee Treviño and Vista Del Sol was closed for a few hours while police investigated the crash.
