A crash early Sunday morning killed a White Plains teenager, according to Calhoun County’s assistant coroner.

Keaten Beam, 16, of White Plains, died Sunday morning after her Jeep Wrangler left the roadway and overturned, according to Jay Bowden.

Bowden said Beam had been traveling north on Alabama 9 when the wreck happened about 2 miles north of Choccolocco Road around 3:30 a.m.

She was pronounced dead at the scene around 5 in the morning, said Bowden.

Why Beam’s vehicle left the road was still under investigation by State Troopers, he added. She celebrated her 16th birthday in February.
