ST. LOUIS, MO : Crash on I-44 near Walnut leaves 1 dead Sunday on Sunday, 17th November 2024

A deadly crash late Sunday night closed eastbound Interstate 44 in downtown St. Louis for hours.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, investigators were called to the scene of a crash at about 10 p.m. Sunday on eastbound I-44 near Walnut Street.

When officers arrived, they found an SUV underneath a semitruck. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver had been traveling at a high speed on I-44 when it attempted to move around slower traffic by switching lanes. While switching lanes, the SUV sideswiped a pickup truck and drove into the back of the semi.
