A bicyclist died Wednesday afternoon in a collision with a car on Collier Boulevard.
The bicyclist was riding north on Collier Boulevard in the outside lane when he cut across the inside lanes, traveling in the path of a northbound Mazda Protege. The male bicyclist was ejected from the bike, striking the windshield and roof of the car. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The bicyclist was taken to Physicians Regional hospital, where he later died. FHP has not yet released the man's identity.
The Mazda's driver, 20-year-old Faviola Solorio, of Naples, and a passenger, 14-year-old Jesus Soloro, were not injured.
