Newport, DE : Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Route 141 Crash on Wednesday night June 25th 2014

Delaware State Police say a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Newport.

It happened about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Route 141. Troopers say 33-year-old Gaurav Patel of Wilmington was operating a motorcycle north near the Interstate 95 ramp.

Officers say Patel lost control of the motorcycle, which left the road, struck a raised asphalt curb and landed on a grassy area.

Police say Patel, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Christiana Hospital, with numerous injuries, in critical condition.

The crash is under investigation.
