Pine River, MN : 23-year-old Pequot Lakes man was injured in a car accident on Monday, January, 15th 2018

A 23-year-old Pequot Lakes man was injured in a car accident that closed a portion of County Road 3 in Brainerd for awhile Monday morning, Jan. 15, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

Keenon Weaver was driving a passenger car south on County Road 3, north of the Mill Avenue bridge, when he crossed over into the northbound lane and struck a semitractor-trailer head-on at 6:16 a.m., the sheriff's office reported. The driver of the semitrailer was David Siercks, 62, of Princeton. He wasn't injured.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Weaver had to be extricated from his car and was then airlifted from the scene to an undisclosed hospital in the metro area.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Minnesota State Patrol, Brainerd Police Department, Brainerd Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance and North Memorial Aircare.
