Nashville, TN : Joelton woman killed in I-40 wreck in Dickson on Saturday evening, October 1, 2016

A Joelton woman was killed in a crash with a tractor trailer on I-40 in Dickson on Saturday evening, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The victim was identified as Melinda Newell, 54, who drove a Chevy Tahoe during the accident. She drove eastbound in westbound lanes and her vehicle struck the freightliner head on.

The accident occurred at 7:46 p.m. and the driver of the tractor trailer was also injured.

Drinking and drugs were not involved in the accident, according to highway officials.
