Two people were injured and a Barron County sheriff’s squad car was damaged in a three-car crash Friday morning on U.S. 8 just south of Cameron.
Initial investigation shows the crash, reported at 8:04 a.m., occurred when a vehicle traveling north on 20th Street and driven by Ricky Howard, 58, of Chetek, failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 8 and then failed to stop for the median stop sign at the same intersection.
The vehicle was struck by a Barron County sheriff’s SUV driven by Deputy Dave Kuffel of Rice Lake, according to a news release from Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.
A car stopped in the southbound lane on the north side of U.S. 8 was then struck when Howard’s vehicle spun after impact.

Kuffel was taken to Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake for his injuries, and Howard was extricated from his vehicle and taken to a hospital, Fitzgerald reported. Information on their injuries was not available.
