Bucksport, ME : 25-year-old Penobscot man killed after a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Route 1 near the Spring Fountain Motel on Thursday night, March 24, 2016

A 25-year-old Penobscot man was killed Thursday night after a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer, according to the Bucksport Police Department.

Stuart Leach was killed when his 2002 Dodge pickup truck collided with a 2015 Volvo tractor-trailer on Route 1 near the Spring Fountain Motel in Bucksport, according to police.

Leach was driving south on Route 1 at approximately 9:30 p.m. when his truck collided with the tractor-trailer driven by Brent Theriault, 41, of Eddington.

The accident is under investigation.

Bucksport Police Officer Robert Findlay is the primary investigator. Chief Sean Geagan, Sgt. David Winchester and Officer Steven Bishop were also on the scene. Maine State Police, the Bucksport Fire Department, Bucksport Ambulance and the Orland Fire Department also assisted. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was also on the scene because the tractor-trailer was leaking fuel.
