Charlotte, NC : Driver has been charged after a man riding a motorcycle died Wednesday afternoon around 4:27 p.m June 4th 2014.

Police said a driver has been charged after a man riding a motorcycle died Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 4:27 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Lanny Jenkins was turning a 2000 Honda Odyssey van from Pine Harbor Road onto Rainbarrel Road.

Kenneth Andrews was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle and traveling east on Pine Harbor Road.

Jenkins told officials he did not see any vehicles when he started to make a left on to Rainbarrel Road. As he was making the turn, he saw the headlight of the motorcycle.

Jenkins told officials he was already committed in the turn when the motorcycle crashed into the rear passenger door.

Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers said Andrews was wearing a helmet and alcohol does not appear to be a factor for either driver.
