The issue of bail and custody came up again during a Wednesday, Dec. 13, hearing for the Minneapolis driver who fled the scene of a Sept. 17 crash in northeast Minneapolis that killed 20-year-old Eden Prairie resident Ria Patel.

Michael Laurence Campbell, 21, was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide in September in connection with the death of Patel, a junior at the University of St. Thomas. Campbell’s trial is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2018.

Campbell's attorney Nancy Laskaris told Hennepin County District Court Judge Fred Karasov that she had filed a motion related to her client being in custody. She was requesting a no bond release for her client with conditions that would be set by the court.
