Salina, N.Y : Two people critically injured in Salina crash on Friday night, February 17, 2017
Two people were critically injured Friday night when their vehicles crashed head-on, the New York State Police said.
The crash occurred about 8:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Buckley Road, between Russell and Ridge avenues, in the town of Salina.
State police said a man and a woman were driving vehicles in opposite directions when they crashed head-on with each other.
One vehicle ended up on the west side of the road while the other came to rest off the east side of the road. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage in the crash, which hurled debris across the road.
Liverpool firefighters, American Medical Response and troopers responded. The woman was pinned under her dashboard by the driver's door. Firefighters had to cut her out of the vehicle with the Jaws of Life.
The woman and the man were rushed to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.
Troopers are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
