Vicksburg, MS :Log truck crash kills 1, injures 5 others on U.S. 61 on Monday, July 6th 2015

A woman died and five others were reported with serious injuries Monday in Warren County as a result of a wreck that involved a log truck.The crash was reported about 3:30 p.m. on U.S. 61 north at U.S. 61 Business, state transportation officials said.Authorities said the log truck struck a van turning onto the highway. The van had five passengers inside, including two children.Officers confirmed Mary Wright, 63, died in the crash.All four other passengers were taken to a hospital -- one needing to be airlifted. The log-truck driver was also taken to a hospital. There is no word on any of their conditions.The northbound lanes of U.S. 61 were expected to remain closed for up to three hours, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s website.Authorities told WAPT 16 News that both the truck and van driver were ticketed.
