Oliver Springs, Tennessee
A 15-year-old boy who crashed a truck, killing his 20-year-old passenger, was being chased by Harriman police because the pickup had been reported stolen, authorities said.
Holland Durbrow, 20, of Powell died in the Wednesday crash.
Harriman Police Department officials said video of the incident was recorded by the dashboard camera of the pursuing patrol car and will be reviewed by Russell Johnson, 9th Judicial District attorney general, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, officials said.
According to a THP report, the boy was driving the 1998 Dodge pickup, with Durbrow as the passenger, about 3 p.m. on Poplar Creek Road in Oliver Springs. Harriman officers attempted to stop the truck, but the driver sped away, police said.
Officers began pursuing the truck but lost sight of it, then discovered the driver had apparently lost control of the truck and crashed into a rock wall, according to the report. Durbrow was killed on impact. The THP refused to release the boy's name.
The boy faces charges of criminally negligent homicide, felony fleeing and evading arrest, and reckless endangerment. He was also injured in the crash, but the report doesn't include the extent of those injuries.
Neither person in the truck wore a seat belt.
