Columbia County, GA : Milk tanker truck crash shuts down Old Appling Harlem Highway in Columbia County on Tuesday, 25th September 2018
One lane has reopened after a crash involving a milk tanker truck shut down Old Appling Harlem Highway in Columbia County.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred between Wrightsboro and Powell Church roads when a fully loaded Williams Dairy milk tanker truck out of Baxley, Ga., was traveling south on Old Appling Harlem Highway.
The driver, Marcus Reeves, told deputies he fell asleep and drifted off the west shoulder of the roadway. Reeves’s status is currently unknown.
According to the sheriff’s office, the truck traveled into a ditch and struck four to five pine trees with the cab, before coming to a stop. The section of Wrightsboro Road and Powell Church Road is blocked due to a fuel spill.
