Scotland, SD : 7-year-old child died in a one vehicle crash on Highway 25 on Friday morning August 8th 2014

A 7-year-old child died in a one vehicle crash on Highway 25 South of Scotland, SD on Friday morning. Around 9:15 am Stephanie Kae Hamilton, 28, of Yankton, SD was driving northbound on Highway 25 and went off the road, hit a field approach and rolled. Kirstan Roubideaux, 7, and Colton Roubideaux, 5, were passengers in the car. Both children were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from vehicle when the car rolled. The 7-year-old died at the scene; the 5-year-old was taken to a Scotland hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was thrown into the backseat of the vehicle during the crash. She was able to flag down a passing driver who contacted emergency personnel. Hamilton suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
