Bangor, ME : Motorist was injured in a three-vehicle crash at Route 2 On Thursday, May 19th, 2016

A 74-year-old man was taken to a Bangor hospital for treatment of injuries he suffered Thursday in a three-vehicle crash on Route 2, Chief Deputy James Ross of the Somerset County Sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Preliminary reports indicate that the crash occurred about 12:25 p.m., when the injured man, whose name was not immediately available, crossed the centerline in his 2005 Dodge pickup and struck a loaded single-axle lime truck, causing both

vehicles to go off the road, Ross said.

A third vehicle also was hit and it went off the road as well.

The 74-year-old was the only motorist injured. He initially was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan but later was transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Ross said.

Trooper Joe Parker of the Maine State Police Truck Weights Division assisted at the scene and did an inspection of the commercial vehicle. Sgt. Matt Wilcox of the Fairfield Police Department is reconstructing the crash.
