An Albany man and a Schenectady woman were killed in a wreck early Friday morning just west of Thruway Exit 24, State Police said.

The driver of the 1992 Honda Accord, Robert L. Frechette, 25, died at the scene of the 2 a.m. crash and his passenger, Kelsey Shagalski, 26, died after being rushed to Albany Medical Center Hospital, troopers said.

Troopers said the sedan was headed eastbound near New Karner Road when it drifted off the north shoulder of the highway and hit a guardrail and sign post.

A reconstruction team was working Friday to piece together what happened, but State Police were asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who knows where Frechette and Shagalski were before the wreck, to contact Investigator Jonathan Kelly at (518) 465-7377.
