Alexandria, LA : Unrestrained Montgomery man dies in crash on April, Sunday 10th 2017

A Montgomery man died early Sunday when he lost control of the car he was driving in Winn Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Dewayne J. Lambert, 26, died at the scene of the crash that happened around 6 a.m. on U.S. Highway 71 near the line with Grant Parish. Lambert was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta "at a high rate of speed" when he lost control and ran off the road, reads the release.

The Jetta hit an embankment and then a tree. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Routine toxicology tests are pending, and the crash remains under investigation. Lambert is the 22nd fatality of 2017 out of the 17 fatal crashes in Troop E's 10-parish region.
